Women's roles

This movie came out just before the tech revolution of internet/pcs, cellphones, etc. (was there a beeper in the movie?) I think the 80s and early 90s my come to be known as the "Beeper" Period.

Anyway, today, it is entirely plausible that we can have a woman in the White House and we do have female politicians from the Senate on down (not many, but enough so that they are no longer anomalies.

So, this movie came out just before this "mini-surge" in female politicians and statesmen.

Where in times past, (I've been watching a lot of period dramas lately) the woman had to marry for economic reasons mainly and secondarily for social reasons (appearances sake).

This movie was eerily similar, even though Diana had a serious grasp on politics, and could easily call the shots on a campaign, she still felt her power would only manifest in marrying in order to secure her place in society. -- (the Beeper Period)

so you think that this spoiled brat could run for any kind of office even if she wanted to,and that some superficial political savvy from being a senator's daughter constitutes "a serious grasp on politics"? this woman compared a U.S. attorney to a cop. there was no indication that she had any leadership qualities, personal motivation,or was good at anything other than being a hostess. she would probably laugh at the idea of her running for office. this is pure wishful thinking on your part.

by the way,the other person who replied should not have had their post deleted. it was no more offensive then mine. you shouldn't go deleting people's posts willy nilly.
