Absolute crud..

I was mildly impressed by the first film, which while obviously low budget and let's be honest, kind of lame, it was a neat little movie that I had not only never heard of, but rather enjoyed. It gave an impression that it was made today, as a parody to 80s scifi, the kind of aesthetic that has recently become popular to mimic. It had that much charm to it that it truly felt like a representation to the extreme, of all the 80s scifi cliches that now exist.

This sequel, Trancers II? Absolute trash. The only redeeming factor is that basically the entire cast returns, namely the lovely Helen Hunt. Gone are the dark and dangerous streets of LA, future and past. Now the entire film seems to be shot at a lawn and garden center.

The plot is nearly nonexistent, with half the movie about Jack's flighty wife showing up, with the other half about an grandmotherly looking old man growing drugs in a mental hospital.

The unlikeable drunkard Hap, from the first film, is back, and there's even more of him. It's like watching your friend's uncool uncle act. I can't fathom why this character is still relevant to the plot 6 years later, but now he collects fire trucks for whatever reason. My guess is so they had a legitimate excuse to have him show up in a fire truck in the last scene. It's mind boggling bad.

I had higher hopes for this movie, not thinking that it would be better than the original, but that it would deliver with the R rating.. Maybe some interesting horror special effects and perhaps Helen Hunt with her top off or something, but there's none of that. This movie is about as bad as they come, and the characters are as unlikeable as ever. Unless you get off watching the worst movies of all time, avoid this piece of *beep* It's that bad.

Would make a great MST3K episode though.

yes this is one of the best reasons to watch this movie. but also the new additions are great, the bad guys and good guys. meagan ward, jeffrey combs, the pony tail orderly, richard lynch.

lol and true but the real first sequel short 'city of la' shows la more like the first movie as well as trancers 3.

still not a bad movie.

Agreed, just a staggeringly awful script. It was more an embarrassing quasi-melodrama than the mildly interesting cyberpunk lite of the first film.
