I looovvveee 'Real Genius'!
All of those are good recommendations though Biodome was out in the mid-90s and I prefer Son-In-Law (another Pauly Shore flick) over Biodome. Though 'Toy Soldiers' wasn't an 80's movie either...early 90s. Anyhoo, to your list, I would like to add:

This is not an 80's movie.

That's what I thought when I read the title of this thread but when watching it it totally feels like an 80's movie. 1990 up to around 1994 still felt like the 80's, 1980 to around 84 still felt like the 70's. So I can see why he would've thought it was an 80's movie.
