Yes, in some ways the film was slow but it sets a mood and comes together.

The self indulgent or self pitying nature of did bother me but to me that was not the point of the film. (When he kills the lady bug brought to him by his child, I was ready to deck him.)

Also the film was a feast for the eyes, ears. It was visually gorgeous. The richness of the colors was amazing. Each scene was like a painting.

For me the point was that music expresses feelings and concepts that can’t be expressed by the voice and or written word.

Every so often I rent it from netflix.
