dvd toto le heros

In holland (where I live) there is a release of this movie it´s a double dvd edition. It has english subtitles a short documentary and two featurettes. So if your really dying to see this movie there is a way i can send it to you. Only the price is a little high.

I would love to be able to but Toto le heros on dvd (with english subtitles). Would you be prepared to send a copy to me in the UK if I provided you with the monies?

Alternatively, can you recommend a website which may sell it.

The website

they won't send it to countries outside of the netherlands. the price is 17,99euro about 12,50pounds.
I don't know how much the sendingcosts are. I know that the movie itself is subtitled in english i don't know about the extra features. If this is essential for you i'll check it. I am willing to send it if you wan't just let me know!!

The UK release is being worked on now and should be on general release in the next few months.

really? more waiting? i can't believe it's taken this long to release this movie to all regions....

The German DVD (Fullscreen) was released on December 5, 2005. The UK version (Widescreen) on May 15, 2006. There doesn't appear to be a US DVD yet...

Who released the UK version? I don't see it on Amazon.co.uk. I would love to get this, and I have a region-free NTSC/PAL player...

How did you manage to not find it?

reply

Ah, thanks! Silly me, searching under the original title! :)

Cheers!

reply

No worries. Living in Germany those renamed titles sometimes drive me nuts when I'm trying to find something, so I know the problem... ;-)

received it today!

works great in my USA dvd player!

HOOZAH

reply

Yeah, same here. I was surprised when it fired right up in my DVD player. I don't know if it'll work in any US DVD player, but apparently it works in some.

Good times. I hadn't seen this movie in years, and it was every bit as good as I remembered.

Here's hoping they do a US release somtime soon, but the import was so cheap from Amazon I can't feel too bad.

reply

Just checked the package, and it's Region 0 (regionless) which means it will work on DVD players in any region.

No reason not to import, now!

reply

I just received mine and it says Region 0 but when I put it in my Sony DVD player it says "Playback Prohibited By Area Limitations" and it will not play. :(

reply

Just to update, I put this same DVD in my cheapo TruTech DVD player from Target and it played just fine..... bad Sony, bad Sony!!

Please remember, a Belgian Director is not French even though the language is the same. Consider if this movie was Bergman. Actually it could have been.

If you google for DVD codes you can make your region whatever into a region zero. Requires intense concentration for ten minutes or so and a remote with numbers on it. It's worth the effort.

reply

Hmmmmm.... good luck with Sony and Philips. Most of the newer models can't be changed via the remote, but a lot of other brands can be.

I went the other way, and stripped the region code out of the DVD.

It's time to do away with these screwy restrictions. It's like banning books.
