Fun movie, but...

...it seems to me like this films would've had more potential if they'd stuck with the standard "masked killer on the loose." It seemed like the point of the film was to include and/or lampshade as many horror movie tropes as possible. So, if they'd had a masked psycho, there would've been a lot more options than a random monster.

Of course, this is just my opinion. I liked the movie itself; it was fun and entertaining. But it seems like it could have been better if they'd gone in a different direction.

I think that the 80s have a lot of monster movies and those were popular horror movies, the slashers became more popular again after Scream was released. A monster seems like a natural choice in 1990/1991 to me. But... I maybe wrong.

Yeah the monster was a little over the top, but its still a fun movie. The only thing I felt could have been toned down was Mike's sarcastic comments. I mean most of them were great, but I felt a little annoyed at times when he just wouldn't shut up.
