The man at the bar did not deserve to be killed

It was too harsh. Yes, he was about to rape her, however, the situation was under control. The stupid *itch had the gun trained on him. They could have escaped and then called the police. A person has no right to take another person's life in their hands, unless their own live is in danger. Yes, she was reacting to a situation that she also encountered at another time in her life, but killing someone in not a good choice.

"Duh. You're the idiot. Not me."

reply

Yeah he did. Maybe Not "legally", But he deserved to have his head blown off. Her shooting him was great!! :)

reply

I totally agree with Diana!!

I tell you I hope that 22 year old punk Dylann Roof gets his execution. Guy kills 9 people in a South Carolina church, for what, because they're black. Who really cares if he kicks the bucket (outside his family or whatever friends he had - who knows maybe they screwed him up)? If that isn't retribution for his crimes, what is? If you're from Pennsylvania, you may know the name Michael Ballard. From Northampton County, in June 2010, this crazy yahoo FUBAR killed a mother of two, her father, her grandfather, and their next door neighbor. Another one I'd say "qualifies for the death penalty." On top of that, Shonda Walter, a young woman from Pennsylvania was on death row for killing her 83 year old neighbor just to steal his car. Guess what? She along with Ballard both got a stay of execution in my home state, thanks to my pussy-ass Governor who prefers spending money on life imprisonment and thinks the death penalty is a more expensive ineffective solution. Nobody deserves to get killed? If executions authorized by the state fall under that statement, I'd say, "Give me a break."

Of course you are right. She lost it. She had all that pentup rage from being abused my so many men over the years - I have no doubt she was. She was a waitress, and in a redneck setting, to boot.

Perhaps it would have been a better movie had she shot him lower down, such that he didn't die. I would have liked it better, anyway. But she was angry beyond belief. I doubt he would have said something like that given she was holding a gun. I guess he was drunk and thus not afraid like he should have been, though.

Logically, it would have been ideal for her to tell him to turn around and run away. I guess as well as angry she was a little drunk and not thinking completely straight, though she certainly shot straight!

Her personal history is beside the point. You have to respond to the situation at hand, not overreact because of events in your own past. And she was willing to let the guy go, even after the attempted rape but lost her temper and flat out murdered him for being rude. Also, later on, they destroy a man's truck for him being an *beep* This movie is well made but the thelma and louise are no heroes and the men are either rapists (Harlan), chauvinist pigs (truck driver), misogynists (Darryl), thieves (JD) or crybabies (cop in trunk) The only two halfway decent men are Keitel and Madsens characters. Everyone else is scum. Surprise surprise, this movie was written by a feminist.

She saved more women from being attacked by that creep. I have no sympathy for him and don't give a *beep* if victims manage to escape and kill their attackers.

reply

'the man at the bar', oh you mean the RAPIST, who everybody that knew him said he got what was coming to him?

reply

I guess the OP saw himself in that a$$hole. Rapists gotta stick together right?

reply

Agreed, but I personally didn't feel that bad when she shot him. Saying that he should have raped her anyway is just gross.
