Louise should have stopped calling the police.

If Louise hadn't continued to "call in", they would have had a better chance of escape. Those repeated calls to Harvey Keitel is what essentially did them in.

Yeah it is, but she wanted him to understand that they didn't do it on purpose, it wasn't planned, they didn't premeditate anything that happened over the past 48 hours.

I understand. But, how many times did she have to tell him it wasn't done on purpose. And, if they were running to Mexico, why was it important? She could have called in and explained their position after they reached Mexico if it was so important for her to have him understand.

Maybe she hoped is he understood she wouldn't have to go to Mexico and leave her life behind? I get what you're saying though...

Oops I meant "if" and can't edit.

Maybe so but, she could have pled her case after they made it to Mexico. That may well have been her motivation but, it was counter-productive. I don't think committing suicide was the planned for goal.

This is a VERY important question and one I have every time I watch the film.

Especially since it's Louise calling, and not Thelma. Thelma was more dependent then anything, especially with Darryl. You would have thought SHE would have been the one worried and needing to check in with the police- but of course she changes her ways as the film progresses, realizing her husband is a jerk and starts sticking up for herself.

Louise, however, was always a hard-ass. Never one that wanted to do anything but get to Mexico. She even told Thelma "stop talking to everybody. You gotta stop being so open."

Her calls to the police were pointless. She wasn't willing to comply with Keitel's questions, so it seemed odd she was calling in the first place. AND she knew the phones were tapped. Once Thelma called and Darryl picked up, Louise should have said "Okay he knows? Let's roll." The calling back was stupid.

But I guess then we wouldn't have this great film we have now. It's still my top 5 favorite films of all time. It's sensational acting, writing and overall a wonderful story. The more I watch it the more I find myself with questions though.
