Even if set in today's world, I doubt a Terminator from the future is programmed with knowledge of TV shows.

Yeah. Even if Skynet somehow is the only one with access to the internet in the apocalyptic future, I doubt they'd care about TV shows or movies the humans made in the past. I mean for instance, if you were going to go back in time to the Holocaust to rescue just a few more people who died durring it, would you really care what their favorite novel or film was?
