Is it just me or was the Shredder in this movie a lot more toned down than the original?

I had a much harder time taking the Shredder in this movie, in the original when he was pissed off I've felt intimidated and he kept me on the edge of my seat, here when he was pissed off I felt he was way toned down.

I think he was weaker after getting crushed. He looked very thin in that silhouette shot where the foot clan sees him for the first time.

The whole movie was toned down. TMNT was dark, violent and AMAZING, subsequently, all the sequels were flaccid and soulless pieces of hot garbage, imo.
