As someone who grew up in the Old Line State, I am puzzled as to why Rebeca was wearing a sweater with a Maryland flag design while she was in jail. Is there some kind of symbolism I don't get? Does Almodovar equate prison with Prince Georges County?

It's a nod to John Waters, one of Pedro Almovódar's greatest influences. John Waters resides in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, where all his films are set.
