Why no easily available DVD?
I have both box-sets of Almodovar films, plus "Volver" ...why is "High Heels" unavailable, (except as an expensive German import)? It is one of my favourites.

Why is "High Heels" not out on DVD is baffling and a mystery. When it was out on VHS, Paramount Pictures had the rights. It seems they don't anymore. In late 2007 Movies Unlimited posted this online: "Here’s the scoop: "High Heels" is now owned by Genius, and this and other Almodovar titles have jumped around their schedule a lot. We’d say it looks like a mid-2008 release to us now." Needless to say we're a year and a half later ansd still no DVD. If "High Heels" would have been a Sony release, like most of his movies, it would have been included in the "Viva Pedro" box set or it would have been released many years ago. Unfortunately it is not. I guess the wait continues...

According to the previous poster, this film may be under control of Genius Products. Their website shows the company to be associated with The Weinstein Company which is owned by the brothers that used to own Mirimax. Mirimax distributed the film back in 1991 so this is definitely a possibility. I located an email address for Genius Products and have just sent them a polite email request as well:

Hopefully other fans of the film will also spread the word and send emails to these companies so we can finally have this film in a beautiful digital widescreen print!
