What I'm referring to is the judge/crossdresser business. I could immediately tell it was the same guy, so am I unusually perceptive, or was the blindness of Rebecca supposed to be funny to us - kind of like her confessing on live TV?

I immediately realized it was the same guy too but the twist of him being an undercover cop did surprise me. So I think Almodovar knew the audience would easily recognized Leta as Juan but the real twist was that he was neither and was Eduardo.
shareIt wasn't supposed to be a twist, because then they wouldn't have hired a famous singer to play him. No, it was so us the audience could know and then react to certain scenes a certain way because we know what the characters don't.
