BODY?

I just watched this movie on HBO. Maybe someone else has seen it too.
My observation is this...If the body of Steve was found floating in the river, how can the woman still exist? Steve was changed into a woman. How can there be a dead man's body.I don't get it.

Excellent question, as I have pondered this as well. My guess is that when Steve was sent back to earth, he was given a new, duplicate body. After Steve was murdered, Margo, Liz and Felica dumped his body in the river. Basically, his old body was destroyed. So God gave Steve a new body. Then, after the devil upped the ante, the new male body was transformed into a female body. That's why Amanda and Steve's dead body existed at the same time. Even if Steve wasn't transformed into a woman, his dead body would have still posed problems for him, as it was a matter of time before someone discovered it.

I thought about this, too. I figured that his old body disappeared when he transformed into a woman.

I was more puzzled with how Amanda got out of prison at the end?

Actually, holyguyver, I think she was in a psychiatric hospital at the end. But either way, we saw her go into labor toward the end, then she gave birth, at which point she subsequently died.

But that doesn't make sense to why they would let her go, because to be released from there she would have to be found sane & once found sane then the trail would re-commence in which evidence vastly was stacked against her, thusly she would have went straight from the psychiatric hospital to prison.

Well, I suppose we don't know for sure that she was "released." I was assuming she was probably taken to a regular hospital off site in order to give birth, however, not knowing for sure, maybe there are facilities in these types of psychiatric hospitals where women who may be pregnant can give birth. So maybe she was still in the psychiatric hospital when she had the baby. But it seems to me she was in a regular hospital. I don't claim to know how things like that work, but maybe the fact that she developed diabetes and Amanda's and the baby's lives were at risk, she had to be transferred to a place where she could get the proper sort of care. Sometimes people who are very sick are in fact transferred out of prisons or other "high security" facilities in order to get the treatment they may need. I don't think many, if any, prisons are equipped to handle the terminally ill or such like that. So this situation isn't a grand suspension of belief in the midst of this story about someone who is reincarnated into the body of a grown woman upon his death :) And in the end, maybe that's what we're expected to do here. Just suspend belief on certain details.

What gave me the impression she was released was she got married in a church, which to me suggests she was released, for if not, they normally in those cases have prison chapels & such which someone can get married in. If she was accused of murder they would not have, under any circumstances, released her to a church to get married.

Though of course I agree with you that in a situation where we are to suspend our disbelief enough to believe a man was reincarnated as a woman in order to find one woman who liked him, yeah this is nothing in comparison.

This reminds me of a comment on the Beauty & The Beast DVD commentary track "I will suspend my disbelief enough to allow for talking teapots, & cups, clocks, & Candlesticks, & a prince being changed into a Beast, But I CANNOT believe that there could be a library THAT big!"

Didn't you see the attendants behind her at the ceremony?

His soul was put into Amanda's body. So, basically, you had Steve's dead body (with no soul).

This was the beginning of the end for Amanda/Steve (the "DateRape", the planting of the gun, and getting pregnant) because he couldn't find a female who liked him, so he was going to go to hell. Until......

If he was put back in his original body he probably would have woken up in the river instead of his room.

It didn't really bug me. The plot is crazy enough that I wasn't bothered by the fact that he ends up in a second separate body.

When God "resurrected" Steve, He/She really didn't reanimate Steve's old body but simply created a new one for him while leaving the old one in the river. It's not that hard to figure out.
