Racist

This movie is racist toward people that have the drive to actually own property and make something of themselves. If it hadn't stereotyped blacks as tenents and whites as "supers", it might have made a good point.

I think your wrong. I've never seen a white super, at least in New York.

reply

I saw a bunch of white people at the "party" but I dont know if they lived their or not, or where just visiting.

reply

blah blah blah. Everyone always makes things out to be some racist comment. I think its funny when some african american people make fun of whites, but when we crack a joke about them, we're the wrong ones, and we're so racist. Hypocrites I tell ya.

reply

I myself did not find this film racist in any way towards anybody or any culture.

reply

I think is racist against whites....this movie sounds like.."the whites are bad and rich and the blacks are poor but good and want to enjoy their life.."

By the way i liked the movie and i hope i am wrong..

reply

You're right, it did....at least that's the message I got out of it. It also was racist both ways, portraying minorities to live in any kind of conditions at the expense of whites.

"Go To Hell, Devil!"

There's poor people that can be bad and gangsterish too ,and they might later get rich doing illegal stuff like most rich people do. Blacks can act just as bad too ,and i've seen plenty like in all races. They can also be quite prejudice too, when they feel like it. The world is just full of hypocrites of every race. We also got to see ourselves too in the mirror.

Turn it up mate...you must be joking!
Stop trying to nitpick problems with everything and just enjoy the movie for its humour!

I loved it! Absolutely fantastic comedy and have watched it many many times!

All you do is float around the message boards claiming everything and anything to be racist. You seriously need to grow up and end this witch hunt your on.

I think that out of my 30 or whatever posts, I have dealt with race like 2-3 times. If you knew anything about me (or even paid attention to my past posts), you would realize that your comment is silly and wrong.

I lived in place somewhat like this in the Lower East Side of New York in 1967. Heroin addicts regularly came to the door to trying to sell me stuff they stole. The same junkies passed out on the stairs which I had to step over on my way up the five flights (no elevator). The bathroom was down the hall. Bathing was in a tub located in the kitchen. This building was actually pretty good compared to some others I have seen. The heat actually worked, though the landlord turned it off at 10 pm. "You should be in bed by then." was how he responded when I complained.

Is this movie racist? Somewhat, but then the world is racist as well so maybe the movie is accurate. My landlord happened to be Jewish. Kritski, I believe, is probably Jewish. The tenants are not white because white people don't live in certain areas though this is changing quickly with gentrification.

Ms. Bensinger is unbelievable however. the city could care less.

Pesci is funny and does a great job.
