Rated NC-17

What??

Dude means nice guy. Dude means a regular sort of person.

reply

Yeah, it's obviously not more violent than most R-rated action movies of that era.

Originally rated NC-17 but the edited version was rated R for strong violence and language, and for sensuality. It's a shame the NC-17/unrated version wasn't released on DVD.

reply

I agree that the studio should have released the UNCUT version on DVD.

reply

Not sure if the footage that was removed was saved. Bear in mind that the movie was released prior to the advent of DVDs and Laserdiscs, long before studios started including bonus features accompanying movies. Perhaps a Blu-ray will be released and they can track down any excised footage, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope for that, sadly.

reply

Does anyone know specifically what as added or taken out to change the rating from NC-17 to R?

This movie showed some pretty hardcore violence. Knowing America, the difference must of have been some sex related scenes.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

reply

I would have loved to see the uncut version.

Maybe when it get's the Criterion release?
