Did This Movie Really Needed an R Rating?

Yes the movie was scary but it looked more like a PG-13 rating. I hardly heard no cursing, it had no nudity/sexual scenes, and it wasn't that bloody

reply

I didn't notice that it was rated (since it's a tv movie, don't know why it is).

You're right...it should be a pg-13. Maybe the people at the MPAA thought the ghosts' make-up was too gruesome, but there are plenty of examples of pg-13 movies w/ a lot more content which would warrant such a rating.

I'm glad it's R-rated. R-rated movies rock! PG-13 sucks.

the original tv version from 1991 was rated tv-14 or something to that effect...but when it was released to European theaters it had a few extra minutes added giving it a soft R rating. also the movie was filmed in widescreen(i.e. letterbox),so the filmmakers most have known it would be released to theaters over seas, even though the originally tv viewing was in full screen. i hope this info helps.

There's the scene where they cut a body to pieces and toss it off a bridge, I imagine that's why it's rated R

Yes I do remember that scene but that scene was also dark so it didn't look so bloody
