Isn't that how he figured out she was still alive?

Why not take it off and toss it in the ocean when she faked her drowning?

Plot hole. No other explanation. Apparently she took it with her in the novel.

Major plothole. Makes her seem not serious about remaining undiscovered. Like, she couldn’t even bother to flush the toilet? That makes it look like she wanted him to figure it out.

I was thinking exchange it for some money at a jewelry store or a pawn shop.
Either way, it is annoying when characters do dumb things.
She had tons of opportunities to dispose of it later, hell, I was thinking just grab your stuff and dry off the floor....you can change clothes in the bus stop bathroom or wherever, why even tempt fate that he won't pop in earlier than she expected.
Have it stashed before the boat ride in a place to where you do not even have to go in the house.
