Slacker vs. Clerks
Slacker versus Clerks, which is better.
My personal vote goes to Slacker, but what do all you think?

Clerks.
"They're driving me CRAZY! These Baptists are stupid. Stupid. STUPID!"
Slacker.

They are both such wonderful films that have so much to offer.
If i'm going to say which film is more important to me, i'm going to have to say slacker. No offense to Kevin Smith, he rocks too.
Can't choose between the two. Definitely better than Reality Bites, even though I didn't hate that movie as much as some people seem to.
shareSlacker. It's so not even close.
Hey, I'm trying to eat my lunch!
I like them both, but can't pick one over the other because they are two very different movies.
"Idle hands spend time at the genitals. And we all know how much god hates that."
Clerks by a mile.

Clerks is a sleep aide, unless you like gen-x posers. Slacker is the second best movie of the 90s.

slacker, if only for more maddingly infuriating characters than clerks, ie - the guy who takes cigarettes who has the interview about getting a job (just out of prison), and the conspiracy theory guy with coffee in pint glass in tow.
shareAlthough I appreciate what slacker has done for film in general and like it; it did have some moments that were so unbarable I almost contemplated suicide. Clerks is the better movie IMO.
shareClerks is a collection of dick jokes made by a fat suburbanite toolbox with a goatee. Slacker by a country mile.
shareAs a wannabe filmmaker, i'm kind of undecided, i find Clerks a much more fun film to watch, the dialogue and set up is great and it's truly inspirational for independant filmmakers, however i think with Slacker you get the feel of a young filmmaker just putting his opinions and views up on the screen and ultimatley just finding his feet and experimenting with styles, and the endless monologues the characters read really do read off like poetry.
So, in terms of enjoyment Clerks.
In terms of overall greatness Slacker.
But if you were to ask me Clerks vs Dazed and Confused...well, that's really a no brainer.
"Is that what that song's about man? That song's about aliens?"
yes, no contest if Dazed and Confused was an option!
but its not so i would say Slacker because it was more offbeat and creative then Clerks although both were fun films.

Slacker. Maybe because I'm from Austin and lived here during that period, Slacker seemed real, while Clerks did not. Now could I do without some of the scenes in Slacker? Certainly. But it is brilliant nonetheless.
