Does anyone know where I can find information about the real case and the real Ruth Coe? If you do please email me at [email protected]! Thank you! P.S: I've tried to do a search but it keeps coming up with other stuff... stuff that is totally not related to what I am searching for!
I have not read much on this, so I can't say anything about his guilt or innocence, however, please remember that MANY convicted rapists and murderers will proclaim their innocence to anyone and everyone, even when they are down right guilty. So don't just take his word on it.
I live in Spokane where the family lived and the rapes took place. There should be a lot of information available soon as he is due to be released this year.
Oh no!! He is actually set to be released as of this year?!! That is the biggest travesty of justice! And I read most of his 'story' on that link from the above postee and who can believe that sicko? Just too creepy, and what about that scene in the movie when he supposedly held up a note to his friend that was visiting him in jail trying to have his friend give him an alibi? I haven't read much about his case but would sorta like to try to form my own conclusion with whatever info is out there.
I read the book (Son), quite a few years ago. As I recall, he was married, and went out jogging at night, and that's when he attacked his victims--something about sticking his hand down their throats, so that they could not scream. He had one sister, and his Mom was real strange, don't know, that's about all I remember. Guess I'll have to see if I still have the book!
Anyway, to anyone that has seen the movie (I have not), does that sound familiar? Is the movie any good? Would anyone here recommend it? Does anyone know if it has been released on VHS or DVD in the U.S. - TIA
The movie was very tragic for the women who were viciously attacked but riveting at the same time. The perpetrator in the movie was portrayed as someone who was escalating into someone so brutal that they were concerned that he would end up killing his victims! (Of course those that survive a crime are referred to as 'survivors' as to not view themselves, or others for that matter, as victims.) They showed a scene where he just pummeled an early morning jogger and then as he walked away, said that he was sorry. Very strange and bizarre guy and how horrible that he may be walking the streets very soon!
Wow!! Thanks so much for the link and he just spookes me out to no end! How abominable that he may be released if the jury doesn't believe that he will reoffend, but thankfully it's not a sure thing as of late.
No problem. If I stumble across any more relevant news, I'll post it here. (I was troubled by the Coe case... he, and/or his mother, lived briefly in my town over here on the western side of the state of Washington. Creepy stuff!)

Close. He was divorced from his first wife, but living with a new girlfriend and she had no clue til the cops came calling. They had been talking about marriage but never got to marry before he was arrested. The movie was pretty good, but I thought Kevin's story was more interesting than the mother's.
ETA: In 1986 he married a pen pal in prison. But she divorced him in 1988.
AS A MOVIE IT DRIVES ME CRAZY THAT THEY WERE SO BAD AT CONTINUITY. EVERY OTHER SCENE HE HAS BRUISES AND SCRATCHES ETC. WAS DALE M. SO AFRAID OF HOW HE WOULD LOOK WITH BRUISING MAKEUP? OR WERE THEY SHORT OF MAKE UP MONEY? MAYBE THEY USED IT ALL UP ON THE MOTHER. AND I AGREE ELIZABETH DID A GOOD ACTING JOB. AND AS A FAMILY THEY WERE ALL IN NEED OF HELP...INCLUDING THE FATHER WHO ALLOWED HIMSELF TO BE TREATED LIKE HE WAS AND ALLOW THE MOTHER TO TREAT HIS SON AS SHE DID. HOW COME THE FATHER WASN'T A HELP TO HIM? SOMETHING MISSING IN THIS STORY.
I remember the swarm of officers who surrounded County Prosecutor Don Brockett's home when the murder-for-hire case broke. Right down the block. Guys toting AR's. Sheesh. The Coes, what a family! Inspectors 71
