I am averse to changing my rating after the first watch. Some films are better on multiple viewings. A bad film can become comforting if you watch it repeatedly, but it doesn't change that it is a bad film.

I liked the Thomas Harris books when I was a kid, helped by one of my best friends also reading them so it became a thing to share together. Anthony Hopkins is great as Hannibal Lector, but just thinking of the film on its own, I was a little disappointed by Silence of the Lambs.

As the years roll by and all we get is cgi barf bags of comic book remakes, a writing and acting masterpiece like Silence of the Lambs stands out more than ever.
