One thing you should learn about Hollywood - never say never, when it comes to rehashing movies.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

Yeah, but even if MGM wanted to remake this, they don't have the rights to Hannibal Lecter.

That's true. Technically the original makers of Silence of the Lambs didn't have the rights to Lecter either. Dino De Laurentiis just allowed them to use him. Still, some day the necessary rights could get consolidated, and then....Rob Zombie's Silence of the Lambs 3D, starring Malcolm McDowell as Hannibal Lecter and Tyler Mane as Buffalo Bill.

If we do see a re-telling of The Silence of the Lambs, it's going to be through the Hannibal TV series. Now that I would be okay with.

Unfortunately, Hannibal was cancelled before they could. I would have loved to see what they did with the story.

reply

Hannibal can always return. If they can revive Arrested Development, Full House, Gilmore Girls, Heroes, Prison Break, Twin Peaks, X-Files, etc, then I'm sure Hannibal has a pretty good chance of coming back as well.

reply

So far, those have all been revived on Netflix, and Netflix already passed. Maybe another "up and coming" net service or something.

reply

Netflix passed on Hannibal because they couldn't get the streaming rights to it from Amazon. Once the contract expires, that's when Netflix is able to pick up the show.

reply

Interesting. We'll have to see how it plays out, but a revival would be great, to tie up loose ends.

reply

Yeah I would too , it would always be compared to the original and would never be able to best it .
The actors were perfect in my opinion. Loved Levine and Hopkins

There is NO actor who would even ATTEMPT to play Dr. Lecter in a remake of this film after the performance that Anthony Hopkins gave. What would even be the point in all honesty? He'd only be setting himself up for massive disappointment and utter failure!
