Buffalo Bill starves them but...

We see Catherine clearly is being fed. He's feeding her scraps, but for some reason he is still feeding her. She has a tray of food near the end, and uses a chicken bone to get that dog to come to her.

He obviously feeds them enough for them to stay alive, but nothing more.

reply

But why? He doesn't need them alive

reply

The reason he kidnaps them is to remove the skin of their torso, so he can wear it and have tits.

He finds that if he keeps them on a very low diet for a few days, it makes it much easier to remove the skin.

This is all from the book.

I haven't read the book. How is it? I've been told Hannibal is a flat out awful novel, and that Red Dragon wasn't all that good either.

I read all 3 of them. I enjoyed all of them, but they were all very different, and Hannibal was especially different from the first two.

RD is different from SOTL, in that in RD, the author spends a *lot* more time on the villain's background. In my opinion, RD and SOTL are both impeccable and highly recommended.

Hannibal is not quite as good as the first two. But in my opinion, the author was less concerned this time round with producing a first-rate novel, and was more concerned with being more tongue-and-cheek. If you can enjoy it on that level, it is recommended as an interesting contrast with the first two.

Here's SOTL if anyone's interested: http://www.gyxsqex.com/tushu/book/book56/20098306242216.pdf

To keep the skin fresh as long as possible until it's ready to be removed.

You are sin.

Always wondered if his suit started to rot or not. Also always wondered why we didn't get to see him wear it in the wiener tuck scene. All he had was a scalp on. Maybe there was just no way to make it look good.
