Stop calling character "Hannibal"
That's not his name there at all.
Couldn't care less about other depictions including dreadful 'sequel'.

How is Hannibal Lecter not "Hannibal"? That's his name. Thomas Harris wrote it that way and every adaptation has used that name.
shareSo what is his name?
Let's be bad guys.
Protagonists (Graham or Starling) call him Doctor Lecter or simply Lecter.
Harris specifically addresses it when Lecter himself suggests to officer Starlingthe formality is (then) appropriate.
Neither Starling nor Graham ever calls him "Hannibal".

That's just what they call him. Preferences aside, Hannibal is still his name.
shareI'm going to gladly continue calling him by his first name. Hannibal is his name. "Doctor Lecter" is his title, while "Lecter" is his surname. Your nitpicking is stupidly banal.

you are IMDb member for 12 years and you are still trolling the boards?Shame on you lol
shareWell no, your point was disproved. His name is still Hannibal.
So what did his parents call him? He sure as heck was not even close to being a doctor when he was a kid in Hannibal Rising. OPPS look Hannibal in the title of the book and movie.
Case closed.
((Damn the remakes, Save the originals.))
Picky, picky, picky & sly. Hannibal Lechter is indeed his name, and you are absolutely correct that the formality must exist in this film. We, however, exist outside it, so are free to call him Bozo the Clown if we wish.
shareWhat I cannot stand is the morons who say Lector instead of Lecter
shareBlame Michael Mann for that lol
Amazing how an elementary point can turn into a mess at IMDB; I simply meant that neither Thomas Harris in his worthy years and couple of extraordinary novels (TSOTL,RD) nor Jonathan Demme, ever referred to the character ever as quote (simply, for the dull minds that need the addendum) Hannibal end quote; instead, both clearly indicated (not numerous times but all the time their expressed will (that is, for the slow, in the very body of the work, period)) to refer to the character as quote Doctor Lecter or Doctor Hannibal Lecter end quote.
The sonority and correspondent banality of a lame quote Hannibal end quote is of a sublime weakness that can only find resonance amongst the poor readership of this century, which sadly is also reflected in the excessive praise to the endless horrid written and to a less extent (since at least they tried, but sadly failed)filmed material. Lambs is a masterpiece in both paper and film and its predecessor book is equally superb (too bad the movies are in the first adaptation watchable and subsequent simply horrible) and should not be a part of this legacy of merchandise for the feeble that characterizes the american way of turning popular culture into stuff that makes garbage tasteful by comparison.
Save for the first paragraph this reply is for the others, not you alone (your response was by far the least disgraceful, so far - that's to become moot as the opposition amounts exponentially next, should I be lucky, lol).
