I completely support you guys. It's absurd that he doesn't have a star on the walk of fame.

reply

I always respect the dead, but, to be blunt, Brandon Lee doesn't deserve a star on the Walk of Fame. He is completely underwhelming as an actor and human.

First, did you REALLY just lump Marilyn Monroe in with Tara Reid and Paris Hilton? Marilyn Monroe was a talented actress (Some Like It Hot, Bus Stop, The Misfits) and remains an icon. While the Hollywood Walk of Fame is indeed littered with substandard stars, Marilyn Monroe is one of the few who, without question, deserves to be there.

Second, Brandon Lee's oeuvre is too limited to really make a judgement call on how good/important of an actor he was or would have been. I do think he had potential and could have broken out of the "90's action flick" genre if he had lived. There's no telling. However, many less deserving "stars" are on the Walk of Fame (Howie Mandel, Vince McMahon, Ricky Martin, the list goes on), so I don't see why Brandon Lee shouldn't be there too.

reply

well in this world we have the lovely honor of watching such "stars" as Donald trumph get a star, so why not give to someone who actually went to drama school?

reply

Hey now, don't be rediculous. He totally deserves a star, he was on his way to being an amazing actor, martial artist and was cut down in his prime. He is not underwhelming as a human, that's disgusting.
He is dead from tragic accident but he was brilliant. I loved Brandon and Bruce and your comment is effing disgusting.

This matter hits me a bit close to home, if not a few houses down. At first I say yes...then I thought about body of work, etc...then it became a maybe, then it became a yes again. Society always waits until it's too late to bestow accolades to deserving artists of all genres. Brandon was trying to break out of the standard action/martial arts realm and do other things, and I think he would have succeeded. I can't tell you how many times a movie comes out where I think, God, Brandon woulda been perfect for this...he could've easily done comedy, rom-coms, period pieces, etc... I vote yes.

reply

the guy who disagrees is right to disagree, he was a crap actor, there was only this, The Crow and Rapid Fire that he did that was worth a mention, the only reason The Crow was praised was because he died making the film. If he was still alive now he'd be doing STV crap alongside Van Damme and Seagal, the only reason you're suggesting he gets a star is because he died.

on a side note, if an actor says to Dolph Lundgren 'you have the biggest dick i have ever seen' then that right there kills his chances of anything.

reply

Brandon Lee was a very good actor and nice person. I had the pleasure of meeting him, Linda Lee Cadwell and Shannon. He was a very kind man and he had so much to give. To be negative about him does not make sense.

reply

*beep* is ridiculous to make comparisons of Brandon Lee to Van Damme or Seagal...they were cookie cutter action stars looking to make money and fame who never sought to move past simple action flicks... Brandon Lee was a dedicated actor who took both his martial arts, philosophy and acting very seriously..and the Crow demonstrates his gradual move into deeper roles...he did a kick ass job in the Crow and more was to come!!!

Oh, and on the side note "aseddo130", there is such as thing called a "screenwriter" who makes up lines in a film, and this is how words come out of an "actors" mouth in a movie...Or were you so taken by the movie you thought it was "real" and Brandon Lee "really complimented" Dolph Lundgren? So, actually, you should credit the writer of Showdown for that one....smart people!!! :0

All actors get corny or silly lines in the beginning of their career....and some even after getting awarded...Look at Halle Barry doing Catwoman after winning the oscar...Ha!!

reply

"bestow accolades" Did you copy and paste that from dictionary.com?

reply

Yes Brandon deserves a star. He was a serious actor just like his father before him. If Ryan Seacrest has a star then surely Brandon Lee deserves one. To say he's a crap actor, then I would like to see that person(aseddon130) who made such an ignorant statement to try acting on camera for himself. I would bet money that he is a crap actor so shut ur trap!

reply

so you think what i said isn't true? if he was still alive he wouldn't be as big of a "star" as he kinda is known to have been today.

He had one successful film only because he died making it, i suppose we cannot say the film wouldn't have been a success on it's own merits, an action horror movie based on a comic book, ... i dunno if that would have been enough to survive on it's own. Don't get me wrong, it is a good film, but it will always been known as 'That film Brandon Lee died making' and nothing more.

With the success of Sin-City & 300 I think The Crow would of been a hit anyways. The Comic Book had a huge cult following before the film. To judge someone on there film career after only there sixth film or so is jumping to conclusions. Just look at De Niro's career in the begining. I have never even seen his first films untill Mean Streets w/ Scorcese. So no one knows what just the future holds for actors. The fact that Brandon died while making the film doesn't make it better or worse in the end it is just a great film.

i thought i remembered reading somewhere that the wachowski bros. originally wrote the part of neo for brandon lee...how awesome would that have been if he starred in the matrix movies ?

reply

He was supposed to be Neo in the Matrix movies as well as Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat. I also recall hearing he was supposed to get the lead in Speed. Poor Keanu wouldnt have had much of a career had Brandon lived.

I signed the petition, Its imporant to support him, I feel it was a complete disaster that he got killed while filming, he deserves a STAR, his life was taken but the Legend goes on, his acting in Crow was outstanding.
