Few Questions

So we know that Chief Nettle (due to his puritanical religious beliefs) didn't like Gaines and wanted him locked up.

Is it clear that Gaines was framed or did he actually sell them coke?

Is it possible that Chief Nettle had Jason Patrick gunned down in the trailer in an attempt to silence him and JJL? Alternatively, if it was Gaines then how did he find out where the trailer was?

Re. the ending I guess it makes sense that JJL shot Gaines out of revenge but I also thought it could be one of Chief Nettle's men since Nettle wanted him out of the way so bad.

Gaines was a coke dealer but he was too careful to get caught...They framed Gaines and in his revenge he shot Jason Patrick...JJL then blew the cover by confessing the frame job in court and then shot Gaines in his car...

It's useless to argue about taste and even more useless to litigate it.

Since JJL confessed and knew it was wrong to frame Gaines, I was surprised she ending up shooting him in the end, even though she was getting revenge for Raynor. It didn't add up.

It was clear in the movie and in real life also (Kim and Jim did prison time for faking the case) that the entire case was faked.

I don't see Nettle doing that. Gaines had a big criminal enterprise and Raynor had a distinctive car... put out a reward and somebody will find it someday.

Don't see the Nettle angle, in the movie Kim loved Jim and wanted revenge so she definitely did it.

I def believe JJL did it as well.

She didn't confess in court because it was the right thing to do or because she was scared. Gains did the shotgun motion with his fingers and then she was sure he was the shooter. If she allowed him to go to prison then she wouldn't be able to get her revenge. In the beginning of the movie she asked jim what she should do if he got shot and he said he'd take it as a personal favor if she shot them back. She needed him set free so she could kill him.
