Wow, this movie scared the crap out of me

I accidentally stumbled across this movie's page and had a sudden flashback of being terribly disturbed by the boy turning into an animal and afraid that he wouldn't be able to turn back. Then again I was 4.

reply

I was actually terrified by the Grand Duke, when I was like 5. Now when I look back, I have no idea what I was afriad of.

reply

Same here. This was one of those movies that only this one friend had and we'd always watch them at sleepovers. Now I always associate this, Secret of NIMH Little Nemo and We're Back with way back in the day and I'd watch them so much and for some reason I just got scared and refused to watch them.

reply

ha ha--me too--something about that movie when i was little freak me ou! freaked me out!

reply

I loved it when I was a kid, I don't know how many times I watched it, but then again I've always liked weird stuff.

reply

The wolf at the end of the Neverending Story scared the crap outta me.

yea those cartoons were extremely dark and i definitely was scared into having nightmares when i watched them. someone mentions the song hexus sings...I think he's one of the most frightening villans of all time--i still can't watch fern gully!

reply

Yeah, this movie scared me when I was younger. Im still not sure what excatly scared me so much, but now whenever I watch it I still get that scared feeling. Like a feeling of dread O_o. Anyway. lol. I think maybe the Grand Duke was the main reason for the fear....who knows.

reply

Yeah, I just happened to see this title, and got the feeing of dread. I was 6 when I saw this and I don't remember it other than it was dark, and scary! AHHH!! Kind of along the lines that Hexus from that rainforest movie (with Robin Williams as the bat) used to scare me.

reply

From Ferngully? I have that one but I need to go and buy Rock-A-Doodle.

Even as a child (and to this day) I can't watch the begining of Sleeping Beauty, The song Hexus Sings, or the song Scar sings ("Be Prepared") from the Lion King. They've always scared me....

*scoff* stupid childrens movies.

reply

well, it's not a disney movie, it's a Don Bluth movie, which are darker, yes, but are very well thought out. i love don bluth movies. They have so much........depth in them.

I found this movie more boring than scary when I was little, but I remember being a little freaked out by the Grand Duke.

What scares me about the movie now though is the fact that I'm a little turned on by Chanticleer.

...It's the singing voice, shut up.

LOL, I used to be terrified of the movies Little Nemo and ET when I was that age.

i felt a similar feeling like all of you that are here but a little different, like when you got scared i got or full of commotion or really angry, i was like 3 when i watched dis movie and i thought that the grand duke looked really stupid,(i mean what kind of villain sends his stupid nephew to kill someone).

reply

this along with the rats of nimh or whatever it was called scared the living *beep* out of me.

oh man i used to watch it all the time when i was little. i remember always this one and fern gully at my grandma's duplex and i'd hide behind a pillow on her couch the Grand Duke scared me that bad. but i loved it and watched it ALL THE TIME. i'm 14 now and i don't think it'd be that scary to me now.

i also remember watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies with my big bro all the time and a week or so back caught one of them on Sci-Fi at like 6 in the morning. it brought back plenty of memories.

good times, good times...

I never saw being turned into a cartoon animal to be frightening, because i had a big imagination and I've always dreamt that happening to me
