I remember it. I also remember being REALLY excited to see it when it came out. I think I was about 14.

Anyway, I can't believe it's not out on DVD, with all the crap that's been released out there. This is definitely something I would expect to see in the Walmart bargain bin. And you KNOW I would buy it! :-D

Nope...I've seen it many times (own it on VHS as well). Love it...but Robot Wars was simply terrible.

This movie is one of my favorites. Would love to see a nice version on DVD. But I have to agree that Robot Wars was awful. It is surprising that this is the best mech movie ever made and is so underrated.

Some of the things they put in this movie really caught my attention. The rattle room was like something out of X-men comics and looked like a jungle gym on crack.

Even though the mech's ability to go into space is way out there, the fact that they recognized there is no sound in space actually made it seem more realistic. Funny how that works.

And the ending was also a different approach. Instead of the hero defeating his opponent, there was the dramatic realization that being Robot Jox means the battle is not over until you are dead, meaning you can never truly win.

Even though the backdrop could be seen behind the two actors in the final scene, it somehow made it feel more authentic. Anyone else sense that?

And not to mention the musical score to the film. It's hard to find that kind of original score, especially in a very low budget science fiction film.

Also, maybe a tidbit for the IMDB trivia section. After Achilles falls on the bleachers, the screams that are heard were used in NiN's the Becoming on the Downward Spiral album.

The robot fights were cool, even though fairly low budget. The story in between......not so much. This movie did have one thing I really loved. When I was a kid, I designed robots and power armor (SciFi Nut!). I designed one with treads in the back of its legs. I could never draw worth a crap and I couldn't explain what I meant to anybody. When Achilles' robot sits down and drives off on tank treads, I could finally show people what I meant! The 'bots in this movie were AWESOME! If the movie was just 90 minutes of them fighting, I would have liked it even more!

You are all freaks. This movie sucks the hottest *beep* ever. The acting and dialog as stupid. The special effects are like Terminator 1 circa 1984. How the hell does a company go bankrupt from making a low budget piece of garbage like this? What was their budget? $1000? omg... The only reason I saw this was because it seemed to look cool from ads. It was like Mechwarrior the movie... or so I thought... by the way, that would be awesome if they made a real mechwarrior movie done properly it could be good. Take some acting and dialog hints from Mech2 if you want a half decent mech movie.

Ditto. Saw it on cable a few weeks ago. Certainly one of the worst movies ever. It's one of those movies that you can't stop watching because it's so bad. God-awful!

It's also one of my favorites. I love how it doesn't take itself very seriously. The characters are the naive, stereotypical cutouts we'd expect from a kids' movie, but with some jokes that are certainly not for kids ("Can we just skip the middle man and make a direct deposit?"). There are really bizarre continuity issues and yet somehow it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Mostly I think the characters in this film and the way they behave is very charming. It takes me back to my childhood when I watch it and I can forgive all the issues. I wish there were more movies like this.

The odd thing was that when I was a kid, I just thought it was cheesy. Now a couple decades later, I see it as still being cheesy, except in a really good way.
