This films connections to DIE HARD.

By my count it has at least two, the Gail Wallens character and the doctor on the tv, he was the one in Die Hard who was spouting off that nonsense about hostages forming bonds with terrorists lol, he called the 'Halsinki Syndrome' I believe.

I like that the film exists in the same universe as Die Hard.

reply

You meant 'Stockholm Syndrome'. Good eye, digitalboy72.

reply

Noooo, digitalboy is right: "Well, Gail, about this time the hostages should be going through what's called the Helsinki Syndrome..." then Harvey says: "As in Helsinki, Sweden," then the doctor corrects him, "...Finland," Harvey is noticeably embarrassed and the technical director is shaking his head.

Well they share a producer (Joel Silver) and screenplay writer (Steven E De Souza)!

Jesse Ventura was also in "Predator" (Silver/DeSouza) and "Running Man" (DeSouza) with Arnie, who was in "End of Days" with Kevin Pollack from this movie.

reply

I'm not sure if you got the meaning of the original poster. He's pointing out that there were 2 of the same named characters in both the Die Hard movie and Ricochet.

Jesse Ventura was in both Predator and Running Man with Arnold, yes, but the characters Jesse played didn't have the same name in both movies, like the OP pointed out with the Gail Wallens character.

Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.

I know and it's because they were written and produced by the same people! They obviously thought it might be fun to re-use the same characters and link the Ricochet universe to the Die Hard universe.

I was merely pointing out some other links between the movies and their actors.

No sh!t.

Yep. A totally uninspired rip-off of Die-Hard. This film reeked. I forgot that Denzel wasn't that good of an actor back then. Glad he improved.
