Maybe because that's most men's fantasy. To be stuck on a beautiful tropical island with a really hot chick. No competition from other guys either.

At first you're stranded on a deserted island with a major league hottie that, face it, you couldn't land with Jesus as your wingman. So eventually nature takes its course and you knock the boots. Essentially, you have attained heaven, paradise, Denny's whatever you want to call it.
Now flash forward maybe 4-5 years down the line. Now you've got two kids running around screaming all the time, she's put on major league pounds and is sitting around in a hammock ragging you for not fixing the roof before the rainy season starts. So there you are, stuck on an island with a woman who's let herself go, two screaming kids, and no way off the island, and no other women. This is where you descend into hell.

I have to agree with the OP though, I love movies like this even when theyre cheezy. Theyre just about beauty and simplicity, and they make me feel great. I love em, hehe!
