Love this movie

I didn't go see it in the theater when it came out. We had a family party at my parents house in the summer of 92, someone brought this movie on VHS and we had like 30 people in one room all watching it. It was a swim party so we were all exhausted as was our dog who fell asleep while we were all watching with her legs poking out off the couch edge which made us all laugh. The movie was so powerful to most of us that we all talked about how much we liked it when it was over. Most of us hadn't seen it when only a few had already watched it before. I've watched it at least 20 to 30 more times over the years and still like it just as much. I can't eat eggs now without Tabasco sauce and think about Ritz crackers or when I see a hot woman without thinking "I gotta get me some of that." Loved Barney.

I've read some posts about how much they hate this movie or think it's boring, I guess intellectual movies just aren't their thing. They must only like movies where things explode.

I agree. I never saw the film or recall it being shown in cinemas. Yes, it takes a heavy subject, and gives it the Hollywood treatment, but it has heart. It deals, albeit lightly, with heavy topics. I like that Henry starts with a clean slate, he doesn't know who is, and rediscovers his humanity. I enjoy his growing relationship with his daughter, and his view of his wife with fresh eyes. The loss of innocence regained is a romantic dream. Henry finds his humanity again. Bravo, Mike Nichols.

That's a rather unkind thing to say.

You don't need to agree with others' opinions, but you don't have to put them down as if their opinions are invalid.

I don't like action movies. I like thoughtful movies.

I also found this movie to be rather boring.

By the way, a similar movie is 'The Doctor', with William Hurt. Same year. Not boring (in my opinion).

So, you can differ with peoples' opinions, without disrespecting or belittling those opinions.

All the best.

Sorry not everybody is a liberal and speaking the truth doesn't change facts. It's a fact that some people hate intellectual movies, do you deny this? It's a fact that some people hate action movies, would you deny this too? You said it yourself. The funniest part to this is you're trying to lecture me about "putting them down as if their opinions are invalid" when it wasn't directed at any one specific person. Are you on a mission for pointing out "unkind things" to say on message boards that aren't even directed at a specific person? Thanks for the lecture but it doesn't mean anything to me since my opinion to you doesn't mean anything. That sound about right? I'll wager you're upset Trump got elected President as well? Am I right?

the statement that someone who finds the movie boring must only like movies where things explode, is condescending and counter to the fact that some people may like intellectual movies but find this particular movie boring.

Assumptions about me - incorrect. Don't know why politics belongs in the discussion at all..
