Sex scene with boy

It makes me wonder, that it doesn´t seem to be illegal, to make a boy playing such a scene like that, in which he grabs Rose´s breasts and later between the legs.

Thank you very much.
The boy maybe didn´t bother the scene (first), but what about his parents and teachers?
Can´t it cause psychological damage to be involved so close into sex in such a young age?
But filmakers seem to care less about the psychological affections to children actors, anyway.
Take only the young girl, that is "shot" in "A History of Violence". I can´t imaging, that such scenes haven´t deep impact on a children´s psyche and social behaviour.
Or the boy in "The Tin Drum".

reply

He was 15 at the time. While he might be considered "under age" in many cultures, perhaps he was not young enough to have been "pyschologically damaged" by just touching a breast. Not to comment on the morality of it, I'm guessing that many 15 year old males have touched a female's breast without serious psychological damage.

reply

Thank you very much for the reply.
I don´t know, how the circumstances are in the USA, but in Germany, as far I know, only few 15 year old boys touches breasts and even less the breasts of adult women. And I think it has been even more strange for a 15 year pretending to bring a adult woman to an orgasm.

P.S.: What do you think about the girl in "A History of Violence" and the boy in the "Tin Drum"?

From Martha Coolidge's commentary on the out-of-print Region 1 Pioneer DVD:

When I found out that Lucas Haas [who played Buddy] was available, I called up his parents, talked to his mother, and told her in great detail about this scene before I ever even sent the script to her. Their attitude toward Lucas is very adult; they let him make his choices about movies, though they had not allowed him to do anything sexual before. However she was very interested in what this movie was about. They read it; they felt that he was ready if he wanted to do it. He read it, and he really wanted to do it, and he understood what the movie was about.

Thank you very much for that quote!
But I still ask myself, if a 15 year old boy is mature enough to judge the possible consequences of playing such a scene.
Another thing, which just came through my mind: How may Laura Dern have felt? Maybe a little like a pedophilist?

reply

yes,they are mature enough..mind your business,you prude

Considering that this is pretty common behavior for a 15 year old boy to be engaging in I don't really think it would destroy someone.

Well at least there weren't any flipper babies!

You have emotional damage if you never get to touch boobs. You don't get depression from touching one. Damn every breastfed child should be suicidal according to you. I remember being 15. I'd have been a hero if I got to touch a boob and not get in trouble. How are amish people online with no electricity? Damn.

'Let's see, you want me to fondle Laura Dern's breast, then put my hand down between her legs and touch her vagina, AND you are willing to pay me to do it???'
SHEESH!
I'm sorry, but to the average 12-13 year old kid, this would sound like Christmas, your birthday and a trip to Disneyworld all rolled into one.

lol...so true.

According to the director's scene by scene commentary, (in the PIONEER SPECIAL EDITION DVD, 1999), there was NO WAY the boy, Lucas, could actually reach what the movie led the audience to believe he was reaching, but she (the director) did say that he really did touch the actress's breast.

And the *odd thing* about that is that he did everything right, and they didn't have to do additional takes of the scene... what other 15-yr old boy wouldn't have giggled, coughed, sneezed, or otherwise done something so they had to re-shoot that scene? *smirk*
I guess he was mature enough to deal with the scene properly...

He asked. She consented. No Harm. No Foul! :P

We need to find this kid and give him his Luckiest-Boy-in-the-World badge right away! Niiicccee.

reply

You can't really believe that! Switch genders and say no harm, no foul. Suppose YOUR son served 3 years for the same thing!

reply

Well, for one thing, I am sure that Lukas(the actor) did NOT touch her vagina. I was uncomfortable with him touching her breast.

As far as males and females having different attitudes, yes, that may be true, but it doesn't make it alright to expose a child to a sexual situation before they are mature enough emotionally to handle it.

Try Jesus. If you don't like Him, the devil will always take you back.

reply

Uhh, most 15 year old boys I know would love the chance to do that. It's the height of their puberty! I think at 15 years old you're a freshman in high school....what freshman in high school do you know that hasn't gotten to 2nd base or hasn't wanted to? This child wasn't forced to do this against his will. I think it's pretty safe to say he is psychologically sound.

reply

Feminism is half right...boys and girls are equal...in the sight of God Himself. However, as a general rule they are NOT equal in their sexual developement and attitudes.

As stated in a couple of previous posts, most 13 year old boys would love to touch the breasts and finger a beauty like Ms. Dern. Psychological damage? Not at all. I would have considered myself one lucky S.O.B.

However, if an adult male were to seduce and take advantage of a young female teen's innocence, then there's a big problem. Why, because as a general rule the psyche of the teen male and female is so different. Is this fair? Maybe not, but then life isn't fair and we've all grown accustomed to that fact.

Also, in the movie, Rose didn't exactly seduce Buddy. Buddy was all over her and she objected repeatedly before weakening and allowing him to get his thrills (and her own).

Here's my question: After they shot the scene, did Laura Dern...you know....reciprocate?

"My girlfriend sucked 37 d*cks!"
"In a row?"

If you havent touched a girls boobs before you're 15yo, I'll consider you a loser. That's what you are. A prude-loser! GTFO!

This whole debate about "emotionally ready" BS is stupid. Before you try to assume nonsense, can you maybe inform yourself at least a LITTLE? Just went over sexual development in Human Sexuality today and guess what? Most kids have had a sexual experience of some sort, as early as 5 years old. Not with an older woman of course, but regardless, "touching breasts" and "touching vagina" doesn't hold a candle to some of the weird things we went over in lecture.

Speaking of, as if he really touched her vagina. Please, do you believe that in all sex scenes, the actors are really having sex, too?

Sheesh people.. You never see him physically touch anything.. get a grip..

So Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone didn't really have sex in Basic Instinct? Crushed....

Well, you could try WILD ORCHID where the crews were talking with reporters about the *goings-on on the set*, or maybe that was just rumours to help fill the movie theater seats.

Hmmm, well maybe then THE SAILOR WHO FELL FROM GRACE WITH THE SEA, that was believed to be the reason Kris Kristopherson (VERY soon after filming) was divorced by his wife...

Or, you COULD get any of several foreign films, including the Criterion Collection version of IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES that is mostly a story about a sex obsessed young woman. There is a lot to keep the folks complaining about this film busy in that movie, and it was banned in a lot of countries, but based on an actual event with real people, not some work of fiction.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

This thread included the name of the director, Martha, and I would have hoped people commenting here would have watched the PIONEER SPECIAL EDITION (1999) version of RAMBLING ROSE with her scene-by-scene commentary turned on... that would have cut out over half of the comments.

While the actual legal status of doing something like the scene appears to show is somewhat iffy, the director's commentary was clear that there was NO WAY he actually reached anything but the actress's breast, which he really did, so what is all the fuss about?
If the actor wasn't mature enough to do the scene, he could have giggled, coughed, or done something else to force another take of the scene, and another, and another... He didn't.

==================================
I was much more concerned that the little girl, played by the actress, Lisa, actually finished out the shooting of the movie with a broken back!
So, everyone missed that little fact over the purported *sex scene*?
Right...
Nice job...

Would a male director have been tar-and-feathered if HE had a child that couldn't step up to the sidewalk from the street, (FOUR INCHES!), finish out the movie shooting with a broken back?
I wonder...

BTW, Lisa's broken back is covered in the director's comments, just so you know...

Hallo andreas-schmidt-pabst,

When I was a kid and saw this movie I immediately wanted to be Lukan Haas. I watched it with my older cousin and to be quite honest I wasn't sure what he was doing when he was fingering her. He told me though.

Now, I know full well he wasn't doing that in real life. That was just make believe. Her reaction is that she is enjoying it though and whatever he was doing under the sheets doesn't matter because in real life, acting or not, he got to see a woman have an orgasm. At 14-15 years old, that's huge!

But he did touch Laura Dern's breasts in real life. He got a good hold of them too, fondled them a bit and I always wonder how Dern felt about this in real life. She's 25 or so then and she is being felt up by a 14 year old. Think about the amount of takes it would take. I mean, we could be talking about hours of this scene going on. So believe me when I say it, Lukan Haas masturbated about that for his entire childhood. I guarantee to this day he still thinks about it. You don't forget that type of thing.

I just wonder what Laura Dern still thinks about it to this day. Did it turn her on at all or was she embarrassed by it? She had to agree to it once she read the script though, so who knows?

reply

That scene certainly made an impression on you. I would guess that Laura Dern was neither turned on by it nor embarrassed by it. Here's an interview where she discusses the scene briefly (https://youtu.be/Nt4rJQ0f72U?t=268):

Q: So you spent a lot of time on the set in bed with a thirteen-year-old kid.

A: I sure did. Four days in bed with Lukas Haas. And it was an incredible experience to say the least. He's amazing. I mean, the scene is being talked about a great deal, obviously -- it's rather risque to a lot of people. I find it very moving; it's hysterically funny. It's about a boy's discovering this sort of grown woman in his bed and her kind of lamenting over her relationships with men. And they kind of go through this experience together. I'll leave you with that; you'll have to see the film.
