Elliott Marston

Just watched this one last night as I love Alan Rickman and let me say he played the "bad guy" to perfection. The way he can convey so much with just one of his "looks" and then the way he delivers his lines with such sarcasm is excellent. He looks good in black and I loved how he handled a gun. No one could have played the part as well as he did. I knew how it would end but had to watch anyway. Great movie and Tom was excellent as was the girl. Alan is one amazing actor.

What no one is around this message board anymore. No one to discuss this great movie with and especially Elliott Marston. Just my luck.

Severus Snape my hero....

I thoroughly agree! A perfect English snob in a backwoodsy Australian outback. His bad-guy characters almost type-cast him though, which is a real problem for many good actors (i.e. Robin Hood, Die Hard, and others). That's why I liked his role opposite Tim Allen in Galaxy Quest - the sarcasm and accent was still there - but as a tired actor too-long type-cast in a one-dimensional role ("By Grapthar's Hammer!"). To see him in a comedic role poking fun at his own real-life casting history was terrific.

Yes he was wonderful in Galaxy Quest. Very good at comedy and he should do more comedy. Having said that however, I just love him playing the villan and Elliott was so bad. I loved the way he handled that gun. Only problem was I would have liked to see more of his character than we did. I also love Hans Gruber. Now there was another sexy "bad guy".

Severus Snape my hero...

I have to agree. He is simply amazing. He's bloody gorgeous! I love him as Elliot but my favorite role is him as Severus Snape. I think he portrays the wonderful character better than anyone ever could even though he is like 30 years older than Severus is. LOVE HIM!!!

Two other movies you should catch him in for nonvillain roles:

The January Man
Sense and Sensibility

He is riveting even when the movie(s) are sometimes not....

What I wouldn't give to have one of those voices like Alan Rickmans. You can hear it for 2 seconds and know exactly who it is.

Absolutely agree -- Rickman is one one of my favorite actors, and the Galaxy Quest role was a spectacular change of pace to his usual villainy. And his rubber headpiece keeps getting more and more bedraggled as time goes on.

I loved Alan Rickman in this! The sarcasm was perfect as was his getting his in the end.

Have you seen him in Kevin Smith's "Dogma" as an angel (the voice of God)? Another great performance, but in a good guy role.

Alan Rickman is the man, period.

And in response to other posters; yes, Galaxy Quest was FREAKIN' AWESOME and the whole Dr. Lazarus thing was brilliant!

I totally agree! I got this movie specifically because I love Alan Rickman, its another instant fav with me. As always he plays his role to perfection.

Just read that Alan Rickman has passed away.
Always admired his acting. Gotta love an actor who is able to make even a bad guy seem at least a little bit sympathetic.

Rest in peace, Alan Rickman, and well done!
