Who is Blade?

Just watched this movie for the first time in like 10 years - anyway who is Blade? Seemed obvious that it was Dr. Hess...but I thought I'd check here to make sure. Some of you know The Puppet Master movies pretty well. Thanks.

Hess fo' sure.

"I know! Star Mummy!"

reply

Yes I too think it is Dr Hess as he is the last person to die and then Blade is then alive just after.

reply

But my question is why is Blade modeled to look like Krauss, if he is not him?

(not disagreeing, since blade does help in the killing of Krauss)

reply

Probably for the intimidation factor, even if he's only a foot, give or take a couple inches. Hey, if I saw a knife-wielding puppet that looked like me, I would be creeped out.

"Who's more foolish, the fool or the fool that follows him?"

reply

I'm not saying its not Hess, I'm sure it is, but Besides it being obvious they don't make a direct refrence that its him right?

reply

Blade is supposed to represent Krauss.

At the end of the movie.

"It's like looking into a mirror, isn't it?" Toulon says something along those lines.

Toulon created that puppet as a mockery or intimidation of the real Krauss.

Also you can't ignore the fact that Blade has the same trench coat and hat that Krauss had.

How can Blade be made to look like Krauss when Blade existed in part 1 and they had no idea they were going to cast Richard Lynch for part 3.

In real life, Blade's look was actually inspired by German actor Klaus Kinski. David Schmoeller who wrote and directed the original cast Klaus in his 1986 film Crawlspace.

I think Richard Lynch being cast and dressed the same was because he looked a little like Blade.

reply

Ehh because part 3 is set before part 1?

ARH!, SHarK!

Well there's also Peter's father, but Hess seems the more likely candidate.

I'm going to shove coal so far up your stocking you'll be coughing up diamonds!

Andre wouldn't have had the chance to get to Peter's father because they had to escape the Nazis.

Pretty sure it's Dr Hess - altho I can't help feeling, with that fedora and trenchcoat Blade wears, that he looks an awful lot like Toulon himself.

A little, but we all know he's not Blade.

It's obvious that it was Hess because he and the little boy Peter was Toulon's only allies at that point of time and after Hess died Blade is brought to life even though it wasn't precise since it doesn't show Toulon abstracting Hess's brain tissue to animate Blade but the film makers didn't show it because they knew the viewers would get the natural idea that Hess was Blade. I'm a Puppet Master nerd as you can see.
