6.5?????????????? please

it should be AT LEAST a 7.8, so all you Dennis Hopper fans, grab a buddy/ette and show them this great movie & get them to vote on here :)

i can't fathom why this hasn't got at least 5k votes tbh, esp. these days when getting quality cinema requires nothing more than a couple of mouse button clicks...

I'm constantly out of sync with the voters on IMDb, and this is another instance. I gave this an 8, but maybe I'll watch it again and score it even higher. It's certainly a scorching portrayal of a very unlikable character from Dennis Hopper, a man who took chances with his performances and often scared people because of it.

I think a lot of it is because of the younger demographic and fan base of this site. They want easily digestible films with clearly drawn heroes and villains, and they want happy endings. That's a generalization of course, but you can tell by some of the remarks about this film that we're not dealing with a very sophisticated audience here.

i gave it a 9, maybe a *tiny* fraction too much :) but then again people's rating rationales aren't THAT easily compared anyway... to use Ebertspeak, it's two thumbs up for me

i have faith in the young (and old :)), if you like moving pictures as such, and like what any kind of even the lowest-of-the-low-common-denominator-exploiting hackjobs do both to your, to use shorthand, head and heart, you may enjoy your microwaved-popcorn rush-rides today, but you're bound to eventually discover deeper and immensely more rewarding experiences along the road, like it was for me when I literary stumbled into the world of South Korean cinema some way back. so now i proselytize :)

the wish for a happy ending isn't that easy to overcome though, i know i struggle all the time...

I always think long and hard before I rate a film, and I would never rate anything without watching it through to the credits. Looking at the results here, it seems that females aged 18-29 have ranged this the lowest. What's they're problem, anyway?

There's such a tendency for people to vote either 1 or 10 on new releases, depending on whether they star Miley Cyrus or Robert Downey Jr. I don't put a lot of stock in ratings for films from the past 10 years here, but presumably people who vote on "Paris Trout" have actually seen it and don't have an ax to grind. Regardless, it deserves a much higher rating.

I love Dennis Hopper personally and I think he gave a great performance as per usual. I just wasn't a huge fan of the script, which is why I gave it 6. It's not the fact that it's dark and depressing from beginning to end either; it's the fact that there's numerous plot-holes. A lot of events that you think would be explained are not, scenes seem to end before they are supposed to, and the plot was just to unbelievable, even for the time it's supposed to take place.

Just because you are a Dennis Hopper fan doesn't mean you have to pretend to love every single movie he makes. I like most of his films but i am not afraid to admit he has been in a good handful of horrible films. ex. The Apostate, LAPD and The Inside Man to name a few.

Dennis has certainly made his share of clunkers, particularly later in his career but all the way through. "The Inside Man" was horrible. Sorry you weren't a huge fan of "Paris Trout," but I thought it was one of his better films of the '90s despite some of the flaws you mentioned.
