Hunter-Dreyfuss Chemistry

Just saw this flick for the first time on Netflix after a friend recommended it.

Based on the posts here, I am in the minority but this film was mildly disappointing to me for two reasons:

1) Hunter's "Bostonian" accent fading in and out. I didn't even realize this until she told Sam to "wait out in the cah," then it occurred to me that she hadn't been dropping the Rs consistently throughout the film. Having said that, this isn't a major deal.

2) Renata and Sam's relationship was supposed to be "love at first sight" (which is a joke anyway [there's no such thing, only lust at first sight], especially with two adults). Yet I did NOT get that there was a lot of chemistry between Hunter and Dreyfuss. The acting (speaking the lines, body language, the way they looked at each other, etc.) was fine; I am referring to that "something extra" when an actor and actress have so much chemistry that one can FEEL it, as though it were almost palpable or it's jumping off the screen at you. A good example of this would be Hanks and Ryan (neither of whom I can stand, BTW, and the two of them together is even worse!), and that is PRECISELY why Hanks was Ryan's co-star in so many dramatic comedies. It just WASN'T THERE between Hunter and Dreyfuss.

My grade: B
