Only a rating of 6.2 ??

I love this film. But I am shocked it's only got a rating of 6.2 when most of the reviewers on imdb seem to love this film. Even Oscar winners and highly rated films get slated more than 'Once Around'. Just check the reviews on 'Hurt Locker' if you don't believe me.
I also notice that some bad reviews for 'Once Around' are because Sam is annoying. Which means Richard Dreyfuss done a brilliant job in making Sam an irritating/annoying character which he was cast to do in the first place. That's why Renata's family hated him as well!

I know. I was shocked myself when I saw the rating.
Mine would be 9, the rating that most very good pictures get from me.

It's a very good movie, I think. Elegant and deeply human.
And the music was very good, too.

I was surprised it didn't have a 2.6.

In it's way this film is a classic. I gave it an 8.

6.2 isn't bad; I gave it a 5. It's an okay movie; there wasn't anything that special or outstanding about it.

I agree with the OP. This is a highly underrated film and Dreyfuss pus in one of his best performances.

for me it's an 8 or a 9, because personally I like these kind of drama genre. But I guess people on IMDb here have a different taste, I can easily understand how it got 6.2
