When Taeko's mother and sister are talking about her poor grades in fractions, her mother ends up saying she's not normal. Then she realizes Taeko heard it and these purple lines come across her face. I can make assumptions as to what they mean, but, for the sake of my own curiousity, does anyone know?

I figure to guess that what she had said about her daughter was not meant to be heard by her daughter. the purple lines are probably meant to show Taeko's mother was embarrassed.
