Are the flashbacks in chronological order?

When they're eating pineapple, TAEKO refuses to leave it even though she clearly doesn't like it and her parents tell her she can. And during the rest of the movie, she leaves food and her mom tells her not to.

That's because, before tasting the pineapple, she has become very excited about it, she took for granted that it was a delicious fruit; afterwards she didn't want to accept the sad fact that she it wasn't so great. That's why she insisted on eating it. It's a typical childish thing, IMO.
