Acceleration question

Judging by the trailer of "Crystal Hunt", all the action scenes are filmed at insane pace, which is achieved, I guess, by the film's "speed-up". Is it true? What is the rate of "acceleration"? Is it as fast as e.g. 1.25? Why did they use so much over-the-top acceleration?
