Sally Field

How good was her performance in this movie. The emotions she put on display were very convincing and geniune, today's so called actors would be put to shame by that performance.

She was UNBELIEVEABLE.

I can't describe her performance. I LOVE SALLY FIELD'S PERFORMANCE IN THIS MOVIE! 100% agree with you!

Sally Field and Alfred Molina were both amazingly wonderful in this film. She really nailed it in the schoolroom scene, begging for her baby. And he was equally great, showing rare moments of conflict within himself. Bravos!

I second that, this is some of Field's & Molina's best work.

That leaves Sally Field for the Lifetime Movie Before Lifetime Movies Existed, Not Without My Daughter. I suspect this nomination has more to do with the movie’s silly title and Field’s status as a punchline after her “You really like me” Oscar acceptance speech. Cause come on, there were worse performances that weren’t nominated.

Not Without My Daughter (1991) — Budget, $22 million. Box office, $14,789,113. The message about women being held against their will that this film attempted to convey unfortunately got overshadowed by the controversy over its portrayal of Islam and Iran; criticism of the music from Jerry Goldsmith, and star Sally Field getting a Razzie nomination for the film did not help. The last strike was, of course, the film failing in theaters and with critics, losing money for MGM/Pathe and derailing director Brian Gilbert's career. Alexis Kouros countered the film with his own documentary, Without My Daughter, which was endorsed by Betty Mahmoody's then-husband, Sayed Mahmoody, whose feud with his wife over their daughter was the focus of the original flop.

Just discovered the movie and she made me cry. Completely perfect portrayal of fear and desperation. Pitch perfect acting. Also the husband was a near perfect actor too. He did a near perfect job of portraying a great pretender - the personalty switch was extremely believable.
