Anyone know what Betty was serving there?

The last meal we see Betty prepare for her family in Iran (before she starts her escape attempt).
We see her scoop what looks like beef in sauce onto her husband's plate, and she asks him if he will be able to go to America with them.

Anyone have any idea what this dish might be?
It looked really good.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

Goat Stew, just kidding but they do eat goat, I read the book then loaned it out and never got it back, I regret that I had many questions that were addressed in the book I just forgot.

I love the book too. I read it years ago, from the library.
I should buy a copy from amazon.

I think it was ghormeh sabzi.

I Googled that, and I think you may be correct!

It sounds strong but tasty.

Thanks for the reply!

It was just on tv but I wasn't paying close attention to that scene. Ghourmeh Sabzi is made with green veggies and it all green, either vegetarian or with meat. Korsht(sp) is a tomato based stew, which would be red.

"Khoresht" just means "stew" and is said before the name of the dish, so technically "Ghormeh Sabzi" would be "Khoresht-e-ghormeh-sabzi"

Yes, I know. I was talking more generically and specifically. I've had both and made one or two myself, so I know the difference.
