Columbia County?
It seems kind of odd that they would use the actual names of almost everyone involved, but use a fictional county. There is no Columbia county in SC.
shareYour right. Columbia is the county seat of Richland County. However, the crime did not take place in Richland County...it took place in Lexington County, the county which Metts was (and still is) the Sherriff. The uniform colors where all wrong as well, as LCSD used black uni's and badge cars. William Devane did a good job as Metts but looks nothing like Sherriff Metts (who is and was at the time a little pudgy)
I didn't realize Jeri Ryann was the star of this movie. I need to watch this again.
This is one of MANY things that bothered me about the movie from the beginning! There is indeed NO SUCH PLACE as "Columbia County" in South Carolina! Columbia is South Carolina's state capital, but the county it's in is Richland County! And TNGforever is absolutely right in saying that Shari Smith was kidnapped from her home in neighboring LEXINGTON County!!!
I am a South Carolina native and was in school with Shari's sister Dawn at Columbia College for two years, before I transferred to another school the year before this happened. No, Devane does NOT look like Metts; neither does Jeri Ryan look anything like Dawn Smith!!!
Wonder why the makers of the movie didn't use the name Lexington instead of Columbia???? Strange!!!
