Jarmusch/Antonioni connection?

The piazza where roberto benigni picks up his passanger is also used in Antonioni's very good 1960 film "The Adventure". (A scene early in "The Adventure, where the two girls meet Sandro)

May this be a hommage by Jarmusch, or is it just a coincidence? "The Adventure" is a Jarmusch-kind-of film with no obvious plot. I recommend both films!

NIGHT ON EARTH seems to bee a homage to quite everybody, Jurmusch loves - in a cinematic way. If you remember he stept into film during a study stay in Paris, where he was able to see whole European cinema - like Fellini, Rossini, Antonioni of cause, a.s.o.
There are several films Jarmusch mentiones as I worked out:

And Ghost Dog obviously had all kinds of references to other movies ... I don't know movies well enough to nail down specifics, but you mix a samurai and gangsters and other scenes that are obviously references even when I don't know what they refer to ... ;-)
