Am I my brother's keeper?

Just watched this movie again and several times Wesley Snipes uses the phrase "Am I my brother's keeper". And at the beginning he follows it up with "yes I am". Then at the end he says it again before he kills Gee Money. Can someone tell me this significance of that expression. What did he mean?

"cmb" was the name of the crew

the acronym isn't explained but I'm sure the B stands for brother

so the "brother's keeper" was just a motto/slogan for the group

G Money says it to him as a reminder of what the crew is supposed to be about, but it doesn't work

Actually it was explained, CMB is "Cash Money Boys"...

CMB stood for "Cash Money Brothers". The "brother's keeper" reference is from the Bible. When Cain killed his brother Abel, God asked where Abel was and Cain replied "Am I my brother's keeper?" In other words, am I responsible for him? Why should I know where he is? By adopting this slogan and adding the response "Yes I am", the brothers were pledging to be responsible for each other, to take care of each other. But in the end...well, you know.

... hence, just before they start yelling at each other, prior to the yelling and the shooting, nino says to g, "kcufin cain." (right before he pulls the crack pipe out of g's pocket).
