Question for ppl who've seen it

I watched the Nekro 2 music video that member brokenhope8 posted. So I'm asking people who've seen this film (and/or the prequel) if there's some depth in it (i.e. character development, acting), because the gore left me absolutely unimpressed and I don't wanna waste my time on just another pointless "shocker".
Thanks in advance...

Agree 100%. Many of my favorite horror movies are ones that are slow and build tension but it was really hard to sit through most of this. There's a few really twisted and interesting scenes but half of it was like watching a low budget pretentious foreign film.

"Dont believe the hype about this movie. You have been warned."

I *LOVE* the morbidly slow pacing of this film, because it allows me to soak up all the sights and sounds associated with the film-making technique. It all becomes one big steaming, stinking, rotting mess of a movie experience. I love the cold European 16mm look and feel of it all, i love the soundtrack, i love the cinematography, etc. I could go on and on. If you need instant gratification, watch a lame '80s movie or something. =D

As for the story, once again it's very long and drawn out, which allows the [ Patient ] audience to know the characters and perhaps become attached to them. If you have a bit of an imagination, it's not hard to come up with your own conclusions as to what this movie means. It explores themes i think are relevant: isolation, loneliness, denial, etc. It's a great portrait of the human condition. Personally, i think this sequel blows away the original. Check it out.

Its *beep* crap, is what it is.....

Nekromantik and the sequel are exploitation films in the sense that they exploit the entire genre. Neither film are great. They are what they are, and I respect them in the sense of being *beep* up movies.

Cannibal Holocaust is somewhat in the same vein as this movie, but at least Holocaust is watchable, and despite some point blank pig shooting, isn't a terrible movie. Nekromantik out of the two is probably the better movie, simply because of its content, the sequel is just slow and *beep* boring.

Twitch Of The Death Nerve is a semi-slow paced thriller, but sure as *beep* doesn't blow like these movies..

While you guys are praising these movies, i'm going to go watch The Road Warrior and be amazed with sheer awesome.

I love this movie. Hard to decide between 1 and 2, but this one felt more personal for me. The whole scene with the date was a bit long, but it doesn't matter because of the wonderful and moving scene when she cuts up her "ex-boyfriend".

There's so many layers in this movie. There's no way to get it all by seeing it just once. It's a great movie. But I understand that many people don't get it.

Yeah, I actually liked this film quite a bit as well. I like Nekromantik, as well, but that's a different type of film, one that's unrelentingly dark and morbid, with a dose of pitch-black humor. Nekromantik 2 is more lighthearted, I think...the main character is more likable and her life isn't a total wreck unlike the characters in the first film, despite her "divergent sexuality".

That was pretty much the point!!! He wasn't too happy when Der Todesking was poorly received and all anybody wanted was more Nekromantik. He has described it as more like Love Story 2 than Nekromantik 2.

This film is NOTHING BUT character development, actually.
