Funny referee calls: Inspired by this real life call?

In the end game vs. the Colts, when Samurai goes all karate on the Colts and gets flagged for it, the ref makes some pretty damn funny gestures and uses some hilarious verbage to describe the penalty...now I recently stumbled across this video clip (link below) of a similar real-life call that happened in the NFL in the 1980's (before the movie was made)...you can see the ref throwing punches to describe the call, as well as using non-official terms ("giving him the business down there") in his explanation...the first thing that sprang to my mind when I saw that was the aforementioned scene in Necessary Roughness...anyone else think it could have been inspiration for that scene?

Well, I guess I might as well tell you...

No. That real-life call was not the inspiration for this scene.

Crap... i really wanted to see that... anyone know where else it might be found?

I think it was done to be comical in a movie just to make the audience laugh.

If you want to see the inspiration for the referee calls, your best bet is to check out the Ministry of Silly Walks.
