This movie isn't so bad

The 5.5 isn't necessary IMO. I actually love these kinds of movies.. y'know.. cliched 90's films. They've got a certain charm to them

Among those cliched 90s films though this one isn't the greatest. Cute, but not as memorable as Reality Bites or PCU.

This movie seems to be on the rebound. I see it on TV quite a bit, especially compared to PCU and Reality Bites. This movie is great because it is a combination of "mistaken identity" and "Murphy's Law on a date". Tom is a character a lot of guys can relate to: not a geek, but not a type-A alpha male. He isn't on the fringe, nor is he in the mainstream. Geena is the girl that many guys wanted to date: she doesn't seem to realize how pretty she is, but she isn't insecure. She has a sense of humor and as much patience as anyone could reasonably expect. The scenery, the soundtrack, the convertible all make for the perfect start of a weekend with endless possibilities. B.D. Wong is the perfect villain you love to hate, charismatic and sarcastic ("Maybe we can all get together and go bowling..." -- classic!)

A good movie from the nineties doesn't need to challenge social norms or melodramatically portray family and dating relationships. This movie is just pure fun and I can watch it 1000 times and never get bored.
