Almost feels like an 80's movie...

Almost as if the movie was a bridge between a John Hughes movie and the Tarantino ones that would become big a few years later.

I watched it last night and thought for sure it'd be from the 80s, like 87-88, but 1991 is close enough; besides, being released in '91 means it was likely filmed in '90. Grunge hadn't fully kicked in yet.

Well it takes a couple of years before things completely move over to the next decade. 91 is actually the beginning of the decade. Not 90.

It was filmed in 89 and wasn't released til 91

The only give away is Ethan Hawke's hair and attire both in the beginning when he was wearing casual and his suit after, both baggy and loose indicative of the 90s.
