Hated this movie.

Disturbing, boring, lame..............I don't know what else to say. It went nowhere, noone ends up happy and it goes and leads NOWHERE. Waste of my time on this planet watching this junk. Some indie films are amazing, the others are just blah.

3 out of 10.

Be sure never to watch Hamlet.

reply

I liked the fact that it wasn't one of those movies with a happy ending.
Because in reality not everyone has happy endings. It was a "real" movie.
One of the most "real" movies I have ever seen actually. The worlds disturbing I don't
know if your living in some fantasy land.

Have a nice day!

Sorry your didn't like the film, which truly was extremely good. Maybe you should stick to the lamer flicks for a while and not try to stretch your little brain for a while. Take a film class amd learn a little about character development and report back later. K?

How exactly can something be both disturbing and boring? If it disturbs you it certainly shouldn't bore you also.

Everyone who doesn't love this film, it is quite obvious, has nothing in common with my life.

People who hate this film are lame.

are you a homeless rent boy?

reply

i was homeless. not a prostitute, but a homeless, traveling hitchhiker. no tricks have been turned on this man's end.

reply

Thought it was alright. Didn't really watch it in the right mood though. Any film can be good in the right mood I think. It felt a bit disjointed to me like it was meandering for the first half at least till he got the idea to go find his mother and then it was decent enough.

reply

You are certainly a childish, hate-driven little bigot...

reply

Chris-chan hates this movie.

I, for one, love it not as a chunky slice of gay cinema but as an artistic triumph itself. Yeah, it did have moments where its pretentiousness made it drag like crazy, but in those moments, it had the scale of a David Lean epic (well, not so much the scale as the feel of the landscapes).

Why couldn't a movie have two negative qualities simultaneously?

This movie is generally a boring movie to watch, and it has a lot of disturbing elements and parts that should make any sane individual go "eewww" or "what is this crap?".

Of course a movie can be both things. It's like a bowl of spoiled porridge, with turd bits in it.

And why wouldn't the disturbing parts be able to be boring, too? I mean, the 'cover magazine' part was certainly both of them - it was vomit-inducingly disturbing, but at the same time, it was lengthy and boring. You can experience boredom while being disturbed at the same time, even if you don't know this is possible.

You can call it 'boredom within disturbance' or 'disturbance manifested with boredom' or whatever, but it's possible, and this movie certainly is both.

And nothing else. Just disturbing and boring. Those two words sum up this movie perfectly.

reply

i haven't seen the movie, yet a combination such as boring and disturbing seems, well, its damn impossible. one or the other

Time is Luck. Luck ran out.

If you aren't really interested in people...you probably won't like this film. If you only like slasher films or romantic comedies, it might not be the film for you. I liked it but it isn't a film for everybody. I'm so glad that they still make independent films...that don't have to appeal to 12 year old boys.

reply

first of all im not a 12 year old or a boy i hate horror but i do like romcoms ! my fav movie is requiem for a dream what about you? :)

reply

I like comedies...I like movies and actors. I have to admit I really do prefer independent films. I hardy ever like big action films and I never like slasher films, even if some of my favorite actors are in them. I like Robert Altman films and Coen Brother films and I'm a fan of Van Sant.

reply

Me too, I don't find it disturbing or anything but it was boring. Depressed, yes but the movie doesn't go anywhere and what's the point out of this all? I would watch it again, but the movie length makes me re-think it. Its overrated like any other Gus Van Sant movies.

reply

This movie is not the typical thing that you can see in the cinemas nowadays. This is why I like it. It's strange, erratic, intelligent, powerful, brave and modern ( althoght it was shooted on 1991)

It's not perfect and I understand that a lot of people don't like it, overall if we see wich are the ten most watched film every week in the cinema.
